Professional Therapy Associates, LLC is happy to provide professional development opportunities to our local community schools and organizations in the areas of disabilities and behavioral management strategies through individualized contracts. Please see common topics below. All presentations and topics can be personalized based on the need of the agency. Trainings are conducted by trained BCBA’s with CEU opportunities available upon request.

Understanding Challenging Behaviors Part 1 & 2

This two part series focuses on the “mindset” change of working with individuals who engage in challenging behaviors. This training begins by focusing on the functions of behavior, ABCs of behavior, and continues with developing skills to critically analyzing different scenarios to identify how to identify the “why” of challenging behaviors.

Behavior Management: Setting Learners up for Success!

This 1 part training generalizes many common ABA procedures and practices that can be utilized to support positive behaviors for a variety of learners. This presentation focuses general reinforcement and behavioral management techniques that can be used in camps, classrooms, and with larger groups of learners. This training focuses on general behavior management techniques for a variety of learners.

Be a Team! Strategies to Include and Support Parents in Behavior Reduction

This 1 Part training discusses strategies and techniques to build positive relationships with the families of the children you work with. This includes how to open collaborative lines of communication and strategies to develop a team-based approach to working with challenging behaviors.

 

De-Escalation Strategies Part 1 & 2

This two part series focuses on de-escalation strategies for children who engage in maladaptive behaviors that may cause harm to themselves or others. Part 1 of this training focuses on identifying when an individual is escalating, strategies to support you and the child during escalation, and follow-through afterwards. Part 2 includes a Handle with Care certification with a certified Handle with Care Trainer!

Sensory Strategies: How to Assist Individuals with Sensory Needs

This 1 part training series addresses sensory needs and strategies to support sensory needs. This presentation is conducted with a BCBA and Occupational Therapist. Learn how to identify sensory needs, strategies to support sensory needs, and ways to implement this ethically and successfully!

Communication: Strategies to Assist Learners in Communicating their Wants and Needs

This 1 part training, which is conducted by a BCBA and Speech and Language Pathologist, provides strategies and supports to assisting learners with a variety of communication needs. This presentation will touch base on what "Functional Communication" is, and how focusing on communication can help all learners.
